Shooting Suppressed
I had a great time taking my friend and mentor Dr. Dosch to the gun range on my my birthday weekend. I usually shoot pistols but decided to bring a couple of rifles to the range.
The first rifle we were shooting is an AK74. This rifle was developed in the early 1970s in the Soviet Union. The AK74 was the replacement for the earlier AKM (itself a refined version of the AK-47). The rifle uses a smaller intermediate cartridge, the 5.45×39mm, replacing the 7.62×39mm chambering of earlier Kalashnikov-pattern weapons. I probably have not shot this rifle in over a year. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded on how great this AK rifle shot.
Next up was my SW-MP 15-22 with attached Sincerco Sparrow Suppressor. The rifle is chambered in .22lr and is one of my favorite rifles. It has the same look and feel of an AR15 but shoots the .22lr. I put a nice Leupold VX-R 1.25-4 x 20 mm on top. The Leupold is amazing glass. This model has an illuminated red dot in the center of the cross hairs. With the suppressor the rifle is ridiculously quite. Dr. Dosch was amazed at how great the Leupold scope was and how quite the rifle is.
Dr. Dosch brought his Glock and LCP to shoot. He practiced with his pistols. Then I let him shoot my Glock 34 and Ruger 22/45.
Great day at the gun range with my mentor/idol/friend Dr. Dosch. I always enjoy hanging out with Dr. Dosch. We get to talk about dentistry, family, life and guns!
Pasadena TX Dentist:
I love Dentistry. One of the coolest things that is happening in Dentistry is the concept of “digital dentistry”. With advanced technology I am able to plan my dental implant surgeries on the computer. This takes all the guess work out of implant surgery. The surgery is more accurate and there is less trauma to the patient. I am excited that my dental office has the latest technology: 1) Optical digital dental scans of the mouth and teeth 2) Conebeam 3-D x-rays.
The picture below is me planning where to put the dental implant on the patient BEFORE the patient comes in for her surgery. Most dentists have the patient come in for surgery and then peel the gum tissue off the jawbone to look at the bone. With advanced technology this is not necessary as I already know exactly where the bone is and where my implant needs to go. Digital Dentistry allows less guessing during surgery. And as you can imagine, less guessing during surgery is a GOOD thing.
