Vepr 12 Shotgun with the Pasadena Texas Shooting Dentist:

I was lucky enough to take a Shotgun Class with Hex Tactical Resources out of Austin, Texas. I had just purchased a Vepr 12 Shotgun and was eager to try it out. This class had mostly Remington 870 and Mossberg 500 pump action shotguns. Although there was also a Kel-Tec KSG shotgun.

My Vepr 12 has 5 , 10 , 12 round magazines. I can quickly swap out magazines and get back into the action. I mostly ran the 5 round mags during the class so I could practice magazine swaps.

The stated goal of this class from Hex is “students will enhance their efficacy with the shotgun & situations that require its use”.  I felt that Hex accomplished their goal. I had limited exposure using a shotgun. However, at the end of the class I felt way better in my shotgun skills. There was a lot of positional shooting: standing, kneeling, laying down, on  your back, on your side.

Final Thoughts on Shotgun Class from Hex Tactical:

1. I will do this class again and run my pump action shotgun to get better trained on my pump. 2. Instructors Branden Grimes and Mike Pendley are great instructors. 3. The cost of the course is very fair. 4. I will keep driving in from Houston to attend Hex Classes.
